Job Description
The Hair Stylist Assistant/Student will work closely with our experienced stylists to provide exceptional customer service and support in various salon operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop skills in hair styling, coloring, and customer care, preparing the individual for a successful career in the beauty industry.
Responsibilities
- Client Assistance:
- Greet clients warmly and provide them with a welcoming salon experience.
- Assist in consultations to understand clients' needs and preferences.
- Prepare clients for services, including washing, conditioning, and detangling hair.
- Stylist Support:
- Aid stylists during services by setting up tools, handing products, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Mix colors, prepare treatments, and apply basic services under the supervision of a licensed stylist.
- Manage client scheduling and confirm appointments.
- Salon Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the salon, including stations, shampoo bowls, and common areas.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are sanitized and properly stored.
- Manage stock levels of products and supplies, notifying the manager of any shortages.
- Learning and Development:
- Participate in salon training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and stay updated on industry trends.
- Observe and practice new techniques under the guidance of experienced stylists.
- Assist in the promotion of salon services and retail products.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a recognized cosmetology program.
- Strong interest in hair styling, coloring, and overall hair care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Punctual, reliable, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Basic knowledge of salon products and tools.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a salon or customer service role is an asset.
- Knowledge of current hair trends and techniques.
