Schedule: 8am-4pm. Monday-Friday
The Receptionist is responsible for managing the telephone system of the program. He/she will be responsible for answering the phone, taking phone messages for the staff, maintaining communication with all staff, knowing the staff’s whereabouts, maintaining cleanliness of the main lobby area, and performing special projects as requested.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Answers telephone courteously and efficiently and direct calls, as requested.
- Takes messages accurately and routes them as designated.
- Acts as center of communication for program, facilitating the flow of information from outside and within.
- Receives visitors and ensures that they are appropriately accommodated.
- Protects the confidentiality of patients and the privacy of staff.
- Uses computer to type correspondence, reports and other items as requested, ensuring that typing is accurate.
- Notes patient care and environmental issues and communicates with appropriate staff.
- Maintains assignment boards, bulletin boards and other communication sources.
- Maintains files.
- Maintains supplies of administrative and clinical forms, ensuring that copies of forms are neat and up-to-date.
- Maintains medical record storage areas and ensures the security of records.
- Provides medical record information to agencies and individuals requesting it, ensuring that the request is accompanied by a valid release of information signed by the patient.
- Obtains information from referring agencies and others who have worked with the patient as requested by clinical staff.
- Breaks down medical record charts after patient is discharged, ensuring that records are complete before placing them in storage.
- Relates to patients and staff in a friendly, helpful manner.
- Accepts and utilizes supervision.
- Addresses problems noted by supervisor.
- Demonstrates willingness to accept responsibility.
- Completes all tasks with concern for work quality.
- Protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with facility privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with Sunrise Detoxification Center’s policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- May access protected health information (PHI) and other patent information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other facility operations.
- Expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding facility policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Use of Microsoft Office Suite
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma
- 1 Year receptionist/customer service experience
